L’été indien avant
l’heure, on en profite pour grimper les plus hauts. Il fait à peine frais ce
matin, quelques degrés au dessus de Zéro. Mais nous on attend que le soleil
dégourdisse les cyclistes. Nous partons de la piste Decauville. Le départ se
mérite et la rude montée nous réchauffe rapidement. Au premier fort, Forte
Foen, des campeurs squattent l’ancienne forteresse puis un peu plus loin des
ouvriers bardés de tuyaux canalisent un excès d’eau. Toujours trop près des
quads et motos pétaradent et nous asphyxient. Un immense troupeau de vaches
ruminantes décore le versant nord. Pendant ce temps nous on se fait botter les
fesses par nos selles qui renvoient les chocs répétés des cailloux du mauvais
chemin. On s’arrête souvent et cette fois c’est pour admirer le tunnel
Saraceni. On a bien envie d’aller voir si l’on peut encore emprunter ce fameux
tunnel. On passe le col Basset et par un sentier en balcon on arrive au pied de
Jafferau qu’il faut bien gravir, alors on y va. Un diverticule inutile,
quelques virages et voilà le cairn du sommet. Là-haut comme d’habitude toujours
de nombreux touristes motorisés nous accueillent et nous félicitent. La vue est
grandiose, Rochebrune, le Viso déjà bien embrouillé, les Écrins, Pelvoux, et
tous les autres coté français puis l’Aiguille de Scolette, la Rognosa d’Etache,
le Sommeiller, Ambin et bien d’autres. On traine un peu, tant pis pour les
pâtes, elles attendront, en effet à 15h nous les dégustons. Dénivelé 1000m en
3h30 consommation 330Wh Fx
