Il vient de passer les 2000km. Je le connais, lui aussi me connaît bien. J’ai monté plus de 30 grands cols dont certains 4 fois ou plus comme le Turini, et tous ceux de ses environs, le col de Braus, le col St Jean, de la Madone et beaucoup d’autres en Hautes Alpes, le col de Vars 4 fois, un des plus hauts le col de la Bonette, un des plus durs le Granon, un franco italien le col de Mont Cenis, une montée des plus connues la célèbre Alpe d’Huez, mes voisins, le Lautaret, l’Izoard, l’Echelle, le Montgenevre, et j’en oublie.

Nous faisons une bonne paire. Je peux me rassurer d’avoir fait le bon choix. C’est vrai que mes entraînements hivernaux sur mon home traîner m’ont aidé à améliorer ma forme et aussi à trouver mon rythme de pédalage.

Mon nouveau vélo est un Gravel, assez proche d’un vélo de course, de 14kg tout habillé. Je pense que les nouvelles versions s’approcheront des 12 voire 10kg. Mais là les prix s’envolent. Il est équipé d’une batterie de 375Wh et d’un moteur dans la roue arrière. Je crois vraiment que c’est l’avenir de ce genre de vélo. La charge est bien répartie, l’énergie du moteur se transmet directement dans la roue arrière et par la chaîne pour le pédaleur. Ce qui ralentira l’usure rapide de l’ensemble chaîne cassette des moteurs centraux dits pédaliers. La consommation et les performances, c’est la grande question. Comme je ne fais que de la montagne je ne parlerai pas de sorties en plaine. Pour obtenir la plus grande satisfaction ce genre de vélo doit être utilisé comme un vélo de course, l’assistance étant considérée comme un appoint en oubliant les assistances les plus importantes. Je monte les cols en utilisant l’assistance la plus faible pendant la moitié et ensuite seulement la deuxième. Ma vitesse est presque toujours supérieure aux cyclistes musculaires. Jamais ou presque je n’utilise les autres modes d’assistance. J’arrive à faire 2000m de dénivelé avec ma batterie. Cela correspond à deux cols ce qui pour moi est plus que satisfaisant. Je le chouchoute et ne l’utilise que sur la route. Il n’est pas conçu pour les sentiers, hormis quelques chemins de halage. Les VTT sont faits pour cela. Fx
